Pathways at NightLast night I gave myself a small assignment, I wanted to shoot pathways at night. It resulted in two photographs, that I want to share with DA. One is a messy urban photograph, grainy and but blurry because of high ISO, long shutter time and that I handheld my camera. Even though that it goes against my artistic feeling, I will share it and see how it fares. I have noticed that it seems kosher to do have grainy and blurry photographs for urban photography. I actually started to like that it was grainy and blurry, as it gave an gritty city feeling ... but that can of course just be a bad excuse from my part. But I would love to get some input
lighting - brings out high contrast between shadow areas and lit areas for a very pleasing visual effect. I am not quite sure if I like the color temperature of the lighting though. I can't entirely say its bad though. The long shadow of the bench in the foreground add a truely magnificent effect. I do like the effect of the light bouncing through the trees.
Composition - great. pathway 1/3 on the right side. Photo is crisp. details pop out. Focus is sharp, and the grit and detailing of the bench and road as well as the trees bring this picture of life. The foreboding end of the lighted path, and the stripes of darkness as to warn the traveller beware, or the excitement of the unknown. picture is taken from about waist high, very appropriate for this scene.(many if not most good sceneries are taken kneeling)
subject matter - good scene, and you captured it well. No other way to put it.
